Got this speedometer gearbox and remember these two washers going in there somewhere. The manual mentions them but not in what order they're supposed to go in. My bad, should have done paid attention during disassembly. Would anyone know what order they're supposed to go in? (As in under the gear, on top of it or both on top?).

Try to match the diameter with whatever they may fit up against .They may be shims to set the depth of the plastic drive gear so it can have some clearance. Sometimes looking at the old parts will show where they mated together with a pattern.
Hopefully someone has a better description.

Thank you. I have a lot of auto experience and still learning bikes.

But when I am diagnosing I use the tried and true S.W.A.G. method. = Scientific Wild Ass Guesses.

The manual is very vague but that parts break down shows them on the side where the gear teeth sit toward the outer gear box.
I stand corrected 'h13man' and 'Swifty2014'. That is the very exact picture and does correspond with what I have. I misread the freakin' gear with some type of housing ... because I just can't interpret pictures well. :nerd::grin2:

the washers probably fit on the bottom, I forget. I do remember though that you have to have two washers. Usually the bottom washer sticks to the bottom of the gearbox, so only the second washer falls out. However, they are very thin and easily lost on the floor. A single washer won't provide sufficient shim.
Got two washers out, cleaned them and then lost them haha. So at least I know they weren't in the housing already. Ordered new washers and installed them now.

A pointer ..... a screw attaches the speedo cable to the gearbox housing through the plastic tab at the end of the speedo cable. Frequently over-tightening the screw breaks the plastic tab and creates a slit. All it takes is a little bit too tight. However even with the plastic tab slitted, the screw will hold the cable securely to the gearbox. There's no real need to replace the entire cable. (ignore the severed speedo cable in the photo. The photo was for a previous post.)
My speedometer sensor looks a bit different as it is more like a module. I believe that's the case for the post 2000's ACE models. (Not sure for other models). However, it too is secured to the gearbox assembly with a screw through a plastic tab. So, good to know! I've tightened it 'securely' as stated in the manual. More like a hand tight and 1/8th of a turn or so. Put a droplet of blue loctite on the screw just to make sure. Probably overkill, but it's the extra security blanket I feel more comfortable by.

Those pictures don't quite correspond with what I have. I ended up dropping both washer in the box assembly, drop in the cylindrical gear and install it onto the wheel, against the dust seal.

The washers don't go on top of the gear as there are the notches. Figured they went underneath. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'll do the same! Haha. (Just can't find another place for these washers to go or fit, other than underneath the gear).
